We are not satisfied with our reputation. We are proud to rank nationally for the quality of our legal programs and education. Earn academic credits and gain valuable hands-on experience in a law firm or chamber. We are one of the few schools in the country to offer civil law and common law degree programs, giving you the opportunity to practice your legal education in Louisiana, across the country, or around the world. Start your journey here! The University is our client, but our legal services at the University are provided by the people who perform our clients` work: the Board of Trustees, officers, deans and heads of academic units, heads of departments or other designated representatives of the University. The needs and interests of the institution must be recognized and placed above those of its units, employees or others. We provide legal advice and representation to employees acting within the scope of their duties, but we cannot provide personal legal advice to individuals. You will learn by doing this in the first year. Students develop legal skills with practicing lawyers, work with real clients in our community, and explore different career opportunities before graduation.
Our tradition of ministry is rooted in our Jesuit identity. Our commitment to the public interest means that our students have the opportunity to use their legal skills to help those in need. And our mission does not end with completion. Countless alumni work directly in the public interest community or do significant volunteer work. In carrying out the mission of this department, we strive to exercise professional competence and independent judgment, avoid or appear to have personal conflicts of interest, adhere to the highest standards of ethical conduct, and be guided by the Illinois Rules of Professional Conduct and the mission statement of Loyola University Chicago. Develop basic legal skills. Represent real clients. Develop writing and advocacy skills while serving the community. We are responsible for using available resources appropriately to accomplish this mission and resolve legal issues. We recognize that some requests for legal services take precedence over others, depending on the urgency and completeness of the request, the authority of the person making the request, the importance of the legal issues, and the overall importance of the matter to the University.
A sense of community guides both our program and our admissions process. We want to be the right law school for good students who want to receive legal education in a collaborative and supportive environment. Below you will find various departments or departments organized under Administrative Services. The goal of our department is prevention as much as possible, so that problems do not become problems and problems do not become complaints. We help the university fulfill its mission by helping to raise awareness of the legal implications of proposed measures and by suggesting alternative solutions available when problems arise.
