Forge World has spared no expense when it comes to details. The steps look amazing! All the little buttons, cuts and undercuts on the side add so much detail. Besides, this is only one side of the coin, and obviously it`s huge! An ancient Pictish photograph of a behemoth of the Legion of the Sons of Horus during the Horus Heresy Is it competitive? No way. Is he going to win matches because he`s an out-of-the-meta and extremely tanky choice? Yes, absolutely. But it is thrown into the mud just as often. The Scots are similar to the ones we`ve already seen on the Titans, but refined with cute computer technology. Let`s just hope they all go well together! However, with the technology on these, they all seem to be properly sized and nothing feels too out of place, just lots of pieces to stick together! Fortunately, they also have all the specific instructions and even where to stick. I really like the Mastodon and still want to get one, but would it be useful in a 40K game, with 2k or 3k armies? If so, what`s going well with it? I`m not good at building synergistic armies, usually I just find something that sounds cool and try to build an army around it; like the Mastodon, or (my current project) a horde of Marine plasma cannons. There are many stories of ghosts of machines ravaging the enemy even after their crew has been killed and critical systems have failed. This is the front room where the Melta network goes. One good thing is that all the pieces fit together pretty well so far. That`s it for this unboxing, and we`ll have another video where Rob actually builds it! Find out soon! The Mastodon is the huge superheavy tank for the Space Marine legions – wait until you check out the rules of this BEAST! Man, there are a lot of pieces on this thing and although the instructions are good, there are a lot to assemble and all the separate weapon assemblies are crazy.
The interior is divided into different sections with armored partitions that can protect the different areas from fire and damage and open up for infantry to pass. The driver and crew were stationed on the upper deck of the vehicle, with hatches and portholes that allowed officers to direct the battle around them. The entire vehicle can be sealed closed in case the enemy uses chemical or viral weapons. The weapons here are not glue, which means you can perpetuate them. It should be easy to build, in just 42 steps! The Mastodon`s main combat role was the safe delivery of its Astartes passengers directly into enemy defenses and was typically used to break through fortified walls or structures by pulling its Melta siege network and heavy armored bow. The Mastodon`s advanced Melta siege network could break through even the thickest enemy walls, only a few fortifications could withstand this formidable weapon. Since it essentially regenerates 6 injuries in each round, it somehow has its place. Admittedly, this place is all about memes. Drag in two melee dreads, as well as some supporting obj grabbers, and upload them to the middle of the board.
In the meantime, everything else in your army must be long-range power plants that can sit on targets. It`s actually been a few years for a few years, but if you want to get into HH, this thing is super awesome! We will also look at the size, because this thing is a CHONK! Oh yes, it can carry 40 soldiers and even dreads, so if you`re looking for a huge transport, this could be perfect, but it`s quite expensive as it`s from Forge World The mastodon was unveiled in July last year. A more complete kit was seen during the GW 40th Birthday Bash. That thing in a creeping fortress! If you want to crack this puppy, you need a lot of firepower. 2 empty shields and 10 HP should not be sneezed – not to mention the counterfire. It may not be a D weapon, but it CAN carry up to 40 models. Oh and 2 dreadnoughts. You want to drop 20 Marines and two fears of contempt to support the fortress on the footsteps? Well, now you can. Although mastodons were used by almost all legions, they were used sparingly during the later Great Crusade. This was because their deployment was a major operation in itself, as they were used in long and prolonged siege operations in which one or more entire legions had come together to destroy an enemy that no one else could fight. Legion Mastodon`s superheavy attack carriers can also be upgraded by: Below is a list of well-known campaigns in which behemoths were used: All gun guns, hatches and crew parts are extremely detailed. There don`t seem to be any bad castings anywhere in this kit and they add a lot to the model.
The inside of the tank is also very detailed! All the lockers and ladders leading to the crew department look phenomenal. The reinforced inner shell and thick outer armor can protect the vehicle so well that even in the event of catastrophic damage, the vehicle can easily be reduced to an almost indestructible wreckage of twisted metal that acts as a small bunker that can protect those in need of storm protection from battle outside. The first is that, whatever you do, you lose 3 or 6 cps just to put it on the table for a game. Which is absurd given the seriousness of the model.
